ROG Malaysia has confirmed that the ROG XBOX Ally X20 will soon be available for pre-order in Malaysia, giving handheld gaming fans a special-edition device created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Republic of Gamers.
The handheld will be offered either as a standalone device or through a collector-focused bundle featuring the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses and several premium accessories. Local pricing and the exact pre-order date have yet to be announced.
A Special Edition Handheld for ROG’s 20th Anniversary
The ROG XBOX Ally X20 stands out with a translucent black chassis that offers a glimpse at its redesigned cooling system and gold-accented internal structure. The design is a throwback to translucent gaming hardware from the past while commemorating ROG’s formation in 2006.
Under the hood is AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor paired with 24GB LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD that can be upgraded.
ROG has also equipped the handheld with an 80Wh battery, while connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, USB4, another USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port and a microSD Express card reader. The handheld weighs 756g.
New 7.4-Inch Nebula HDR OLED Display
One of the biggest upgrades is ROG’s new Nebula HDR Display. The 7.4-inch 16:9 OLED panel has a Full HD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, with FreeSync Premium Pro supporting VRR between 30Hz and 120Hz.
The display reaches 600 nits of typical brightness and up to 1,400 nits peak, earning VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification. Dolby Vision is supported, while Gorilla Glass Victus and DXC Anti-Reflection protection help improve durability and visibility.
Controls retain an Xbox-inspired layout with impulse triggers, a transforming D-pad, full-size TMR joysticks, HD haptics, six-axis IMU and two assignable rear buttons.
ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Turns It Into a Portable Big-Screen Setup
ROG is also bringing the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses to Malaysia as a separate purchase and as part of the X20 bundle.
The glasses can project the equivalent of a 171-inch virtual display viewed from four metres away, with Sony micro-OLED panels, up to 240Hz refresh rate, a 57-degree field of view and 0.01ms panel response time. Sound is handled by Bose, while native 3DoF tracking allows the virtual display to react to head movement.
Collector’s Bundle Adds dbrand and Pelican Accessories
For those who want the full anniversary package, the ROG XBOX Ally X20 Bundle adds a custom dbrand Killswitch case with gold-and-black detailing, kickstand and rugged grips. There’s also a custom circuit-board-inspired skin, joystick covers, a 68W charger and a custom Pelican Protector Case with red ROG latches and a 20th anniversary badge.
The ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses are included as well, connecting directly to the handheld through USB-C.
ROG Malaysia says the ROG XBOX Ally X20, XREAL R1 Edition 20 and the complete bundle are all confirmed for Malaysia, with pricing and pre-order details to be revealed soon.
