vivo Malaysia is celebrating Malaysia’s 69th Merdeka with the launch of its “Shoot Beyond What You See” Challenge, a nationwide photography campaign that encourages Malaysians to rediscover the country’s iconic landmarks from a different perspective.

Running from 3 to 31 August, the challenge puts the imaging capabilities of the vivo X300 Ultra and vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra into the spotlight, while celebrating Malaysia’s diversity, heritage and shared identity throughout Merdeka Month.

Capture Malaysia From a Different Perspective

At the heart of the campaign is the vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, which offers an extensive focal length range from 400mm to 8100mm. The setup allows photographers to bring extremely distant subjects closer into the frame, opening up creative possibilities that would normally be difficult to achieve with a smartphone alone.

Rather than simply photographing familiar landmarks from their usual locations, vivo wants participants to find unusual viewpoints and use the telephoto system to create a completely different perspective.

For example, participants could attempt to capture the PETRONAS Twin Towers and Genting Highlands within the same composition or photograph Merdeka 118 from a distant location. The idea is to demonstrate how distance and perspective can transform an otherwise familiar Malaysian landmark into a more interesting photograph.

In the spirit of “One Malaysia”, vivo says the campaign is also designed to showcase the different perspectives that collectively make Malaysia unique.

Participants can choose their own location and photograph a recognisable Malaysian landmark from afar before sharing the image on social media with the hashtag #MyPerspectiveofMY and tagging the location where the photograph was taken.

Merdeka SPayLater Promotions

Alongside the photography challenge, vivo Malaysia is introducing several SPayLater promotions for the Merdeka celebration.

Customers can enjoy six months of 0% instalments as well as a RM100 rebate with a minimum purchase of RM1,000. A Coin Bonanza promotion will also offer up to 10,000 coins.

The offers will be available at participating vivo Concept Stores in Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.

The “Shoot Beyond What You See” Challenge runs nationwide from 3 to 31 August, giving Malaysians another reason to explore their surroundings during Merdeka Month while putting a creative spin on some of the country’s most recognisable sights.
