Since the US presidential election, its outcome had millions questioning whether the news and the media have been twisted to spin our perception on both the presidential candidates. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has poured out its thoughts regarding both the social networking platform and the recent election. According to Zuckerberg, it turns out that only 1 percent of all news on Facebook is fake.

In Zuckerberg’s status on Facebook, he mentioned that many people are wondering whether fake news contributed to the outcome of the US presidential election, and that Facebook’s responsibility is to prevent the spread of fake news. Zuckerberg claims that 99 percent of what we see on Facebook isn’t fake, and that the 1 percent of fake news and hoaxes aren’t limited to just politics, hence he came with a conclusion that it is unlikely that fake news and hoaxes changed the result of the election.

Zuckerberg further said in the lengthy post that Facebook is committed to providing accurate news and that it has launched features that allow the community to flag such news and hoaxes on the social networking platform. He also claimed that he and his team have played a role in convincing 2 million people to vote in the presidential election. In the same post, Zuckerberg admits that identifying the “truth” is complicated, but has also said that the folks at Facebook will continue the effort to eliminate and debunk fake news and hoaxes.
