The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is rumored to be unveiled early next month, and probably only exclusive to the AT&T carrier in the States. Previous leaks of the ruggedized device have exposed in in the wild, alongside specs which aren’t surprising given the history of Galaxy Active handsets.

According to Venture Beat, the Galaxy S7 Active will be sporting pretty much the same design from its predecssor, as shown in the images. The handset however, will turn out to be thicker than the Galaxy S6 Active. Not only that, the S7 Active is said to be of a slightly larger form factor across all three dimensions. The ruggedized phone will be of 9.9mm in thickness, compared to the S6 Active’s thickness of 8.6mm, bringing a difference of more than 1mm. The S7 Active will also be putting on some weight, 15g to be specific, according to Venture Beat, increasing it from 170g to 185g.

The report further states that the increase in its weight and size is likely because of the mammoth battery packed by the S7 Active – 4,000mAh, a significant increase from the 3,500mAh battery of its predecessor. Other rumored specs are pretty much similar to the Galaxy S7. A 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It is also said to sport the same 12MP camera seen on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, coupled with a 5MP front facing camera. To sum it all up, it’s basically a Galaxy S7 with a much tougher and beefier body. What do you think?
