OPPO and Vivo are two brands that have a knack for innovation – think the Vivo Nex Dual Display and OPPO Reno’s pivot rising camera – but some cases these technological advances come off as unnecessary, if not tacky.

After experimenting with the exterior of the smartphone, it looks like the two BKK Electronics-owned brands are turning their attention the inside instead – and we’re talking about Wi-Fi connectivity today. Reports say that the brands have taken to Weibo to boast of their new Dual Wi-Fi feature.

What it does apparently, is connect to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks – as opposed to just one at any given time – to boost download speeds to crazy levels. How crazy? Try 322% faster than normal; while page loading speeds increased by 44.5%.

In a video posted by ColorOS’ page on weibo also showed off the iQOO smartphone to demo the feature while gaming – with faster connection speeds, you’re talking about lower latency.

With 5GHz Wi-Fi broadband now becoming more increasingly available to the masses, especially here in Malaysia, this looks like the most useful and important piece of technological advancement OPPO and Vivo have conjured in some time.

You can expect the feature to arrive in the next ColorOS and Funtouch OS update, and we for one are excited for it.
