Yesterday saw the launch of Huawei’s third instalment to their flagship P series, the P30 and the P30 Pro. Besides the phones however, Huawei also launched the latest addition to their laptop lineup, the Huawei MateBook 13.

The 13-inch device comes with a FullView display that’s capable of 2160 x 1440 resolution and features a screen-to-body ratio of 88%; but it’s no MateBook X Pro in this aspect.

The laptop weighs around 1.28kg, making it the lightest MateBook to date, and even lighter than Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is about 9g heavier.

Now comes the fun part: specs. The MateBook 13 comes with your choice of either an 8th gen Intel Coree i5 or i7, integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 chip and an Nvidia GeForce MX150 2GB, so light photo editing should be a breeze.

You’ll get LPDDR3 8GB RAM as standard and for storage, 256GB SSD for the i5 model or 512GB SSD for the i7.

The MateBook 13 comes with 2 USB-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with a 42Wh battery which Huawei claims can get you 9.6 hours of FHD video playback using the dedicated GPU or 10 hours with the integrated GPU.

Unfortunately, Malaysians won’t be getting the touchscreen version of the MateBook 13 just yet, but we reckon it will be introduced in the near future. The laptop does come with the OneHop feature which allows you to wirelessly transfer files from you mobile to the laptop via NFC.

The Huawei MateBook 13 will be available for purchase this April 6 alongside the P30 smartphones; you can also pre-order the laptop at Huawei’s official online store, and each pre-order will net you a list of free gifts.

The laptop is available in three colors – Space Gray, Pink Gold and Mystic Silver. The Core i5 variant will set you back RM3,999 while the Core i7 variant will cost RM4,399.
