Huawei set to penetrate US market through carriers

Huawei has been planning for this moment for years, and it will finally come to past. The Chinese smartphone maker has solidified its spot as the third largest smartphone manufacturer, at times having leapfrogged Apple for a short lived second place. Huawei CEO Richard Yu has announced that the company will begin selling its handsets beginning with the Mate 10 through local US carriers next year.

Yu did not mention the official launch date of the phone in the US, neither did he announce which carrier Huawei will be working with to sell the Mate 10. All we know is that further details will be revealed at CES 2018 which is less than a month away from now. Huawei currently has a presence in the Western market, but in a country dominated by carrier locked smartphones, that seems to be the way to grab hold of the American consumer market.

The Huawei Mate 10, which is already significantly less expensive than the likes of Samsung and Apple’s flagships, will likely be even more affordable as a carrier locked smartphone. The Huawei P11 should be the second handset by the company to be sold by a US carrier when it launches at MWC 2018. Thoughts?
