Nubia, a subsidiary by ZTE has announced the Nubia Z11 Mini, the successor to the Z9 Mini from last year. Oddly, Nubia hasn’t released the “normal-sized” model of the Z11, which will obviously be named without the Mini title. On top of that, the Nubia Z11 Mini isn’t as mini-sized as expected.

For starters, the Nubia Z11 Mini sports a 5.0-inch full HD display covered by 2.5D glass. The handset comes packed with a decently impressive octa-core Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB of RAM and a sufficient 64GB of expandable storage. Powering the Z11 Mini is a 2,800mAh battery, which is an acceptable capacity for a device of that form factor. On the camera side of things is where the Z11 Mini starts to impress. It features a 16MP camera, carrying a Sony IMX298 image sensor, the same sensor found on flagships by other Chinese OEM’s – the Huawei Mate 8, the OPPO R9 Plus and Xiaomi’s Mi 5. The rear camera comes with a f/2.0 aperture and supports RAW images. The attractive package goes on further with an 8MP selfie shooter, which has 1.4um pixels which absorbs more light.

The Z11 Mini comes with a rear fingerprint sensor, a dual SIM card slot, VoLTE support, DTS sound and a USB Type-C port as an added bonus. However, the handset is still running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, with Nubia’s own UI on top. The device is available in Gold, Black and White models and is already up for pre-orders in China. We will most likely be seeing the Z11 Mini arrive to Malaysian shores alongside other Asian countries. The Nubia Z11 Mini comes at an attractive price point of 1,499 CNY (RM891.24). Meanwhile, stay tuned as we wait for the bigger Nubia Z11 to be announced.
