HBO, Discovery and OTOY partners up to deliver virtual reality content

HBO and Discovery Communications are also interested in the potential of virtual reality/augmented reality it seems as both companies have took an equity stake in OTOY to forge the development of next-generation media and content publishing platforms and services.

According to OTOY, the investment made by both HBO and Discovery will “fuel development and distribution of original holographic content, enabling HBO and Discovery to deliver new entertainment experiences to consumers across TV, mobile, web, social and emerging wearable technologies such as virtual and augmented reality.”

This wouldn’t be the first time HBO and OTOY have worked together as they are both companies are working together with Jon Stewart to produce “short form digital content.”
