After some minor issues which led to a delay, Android Nougat software is finally heading to ZTE’s Axon 7 devices. On top of that, the ZTE flagship will be Daydream ready with the software update. ZTE made the announcement on its Z-Community forums earlier today.

The Axon 7 was promised Android Nougat software and the company has finally started rolling out its OTA software update to Axon 7 handsets. With Android Nougat, the phone will now have multi-window support, enabling it to run two apps side by side. Nougat also brings more emojis into the social game. With the new software, ZTE’s flagship has been given a new breath of life, making it a device to buy with its attractive price point. The details of the software update can be found below:

  • Android OS Upgraded from 6.0.1 to 7.0
  • Axon 7 2017U is Now Daydream Ready! Get a Daydream View to experience VR today.
  • Camera RAW Implemented in Manual Mode and Enhanced Auto-Focus for Camera.
  • Google Security Patch Updated to December 2016
  • Various Device Stability and Security Improvements.
  • Hiya Caller ID/Blocking added to default dialer.
  • Miscellaneous Performance Improvements and other Enhancements.
  • NOTE: Manual Restart Required After Upgrading.

The ZTE Axon 7 is the first known device with Daydream compatibility. The software update makes the phone Daydream ready, which means Axon 7 users can pair their phone with Google’s affordable Daydream VR headset for a virtual reality experience, taking advantage of the handset’s 5.5-inch QHD display.

The software update should be heading to you if you happen to be using the ZTE Axon 7. Just check and refresh for software updates if you haven’t. What do you think?
