You can soon post lengthier tweets on Twitter

Twitter has always been meant for the short and sweet, hence users have to look elsewhere if they’re planning to post and essay or a ranting paragraph. Twitter will soon be changing the 140 character game, though not a signifcant change, will make a difference.

According to The Verge, Twitter will start reducing the type of content that contributes to the 140 character count starting next week on the 19th of September. For instance, media attachments such as images and videos, plus quoted tweets won’t be counted as part of the 140 characters anymore. On top of that, usernames mentioned at the beginning of a tweet replies won’t reduce the character count as well. Though the latter adjustment might not kick in the same time as the former.

The 140 character limit for Twitter has been pretty much a cursed blessing, or a blessed curse, for that matter. But the aforementioned changes to the social media platform will mean that users will have more space to squeeze in a couple more words when composing a tweet. Not too long ago, the company has already announced that it won’t count media attachments and user polls in the imposed character limit, but did not mention when will the change take place, but that has changed so we should expect the adjustment to take place in a week’s time.

As a result, you can soon express your thoughts a little more than just 140 characters in Twitter-verse, subject to certain terms and conditions set by Twitter, of course. What do you think?
