Instagram has come a long way now since it was first introduced as a mere photo sharing app more than 6 years ago back in 2010. Fast forward till today, it won’t be as easy to differentiate between the key features of Instagram and Facebook, as the former social app’s features, especially the most recent ones such as Live Video streaming inches it closer to the features offered on the Facebook app. This new feature on Instagram is no exception.

Instagrammers can now upload multiple photos into a post to be shared on Instagram, up to 10 photos in fact. This applies to videos as well. This new feature was spotted recently as Instagram rolled it out to a handful of lucky users. The feature pretty much works like how a photo album would on Facebook. When uploading photos, there is now a new icon for uploading more than one photo. Users will be able to choose the order of the photos, as to which photo will be displayed first. You can also choose to edit the photos one by one, or put on a filter for all photos in one go. Do bear in mind that the photos will only be in square for now, and that the post will only have a single caption.

Your profile grid will also display a new icon if your post consists of more than one image or video. The Instagram feed on the other hand will have dots below a post with multiple media for users to swipe through the post. Commenting and liking a post will work as usual, which means users won’t be able to like or comment on individual media within a post.

Up to 10 photos or videos would mean spending up to 10 times the duration you would normal spend scrolling on Instagram. What do you think of this new feature?
