Earlier today, YTL Communications has announced their 5G services in Malaysia during their launch, which marks the first mobile network operator to launch 5G locally.
If you didn’t know, YTL is one of the two companies to work with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) to bring 5G to Malaysia; the second being Telekom Malaysia (TM). DNB has also said that they aim to have 500 sites ready by the end of this year. As for now, the Yes 5G plans are readily available in Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, and selected areas in Kuala Lumpur, with plans to expand to the whole of Klang Valley by the end of 2022.
During the launch, YTL also announced its collaborations with companies like Huawei, Zoom, Tencent, and more, to bring 5G devices as you’ve never seen, especially with the 1Gbps speeds that you can get with this 5G connection. Here are some of the photos from the launch:
If you want to get 5G there are two plans available – the YES Prepaid 5G plan priced at RM30 and gives you Unlimited 4G LTE (capped at 7Mbps) and 9 GB hotspot, as well as the YES Post-paid 5G plan that will cost RM49/month and gives you 100GB of 4G data. Additionally, both plans give you unlimited On-net voice calls, Off-net Voice calls, On-Net SMS, and unlimited 5G data until 1st April 2022.
However, if you don’t have a 5G supported phone, you can get the YES FT5G Postpaid 99 Phone Bundle that gives you a choice of a variety of phones that support 5G, ranging from Xiao Mi, OPPO, vivo, and realme. This plan is priced at RM99/ Month and gives you Unlimited 5G until 1st April 2022, 250GB 4G LTE, Unlimited On-net and Off-net Calls
