Xiaomi completes the Redmi 9 family by introducing the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C, which are the two lower-end variants in the series.

Redmi 9A

For just RM359, the phone comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ display that has a dot-drop notch where its 5MP front camera sits. For imaging, it’s got a single 13MP lens that should be good enough for point-and-shoot photography.

Under the hood is the new MediaTek Helio G25 chipset that’s supposed to offer decent gaming performance. It’s paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, with up to 512GB of expandable storage support. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging, much less than the Redmi 9’s 18W fast charging support. The Redmi 9A only supports AI Face unlock.

During Lazada’s and Shopee’s 7.7 sale, you can get the phone for just RM319. The phone will be available at brick-and-mortar stores starting July 14.

This phone sports the same 6.53-inch HD+ display but packs more cameras – a 13MP main lens, a 2MP macro shooter and one 2MP depth sensor. This is better for people who want more avenues for photography creativity.

The phone comes with a slightly better, but also brand-new MediaTek Helio G35 chip that’s also supposedly good for gaming. It has the same memory configurations and battery size. It comes with both AI Face unlock and a back-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Redmi 9C is priced at RM429 and will be available at the end of July.

The Redmi 9 – with its quad-camera setup, 8MP selfie shooter, 18W fast charging support and better MediaTek Helio G80 chipset – is only priced at RM499. We think forking out just a little more for this variant would be the better choice.
