Xiaomi Mi MIx 4 has been launched and it’s biggest draw is its use of an under-display selfie camera, or as Xiaomi calls it, a Camera Under Display (CUP).
Mi MIX 4 is one of the few phones with an under-display camera
It’s one of the very few smartphones to use this feature, and under the 6.67-inch AMOLED panel sits the phone’s 20MP front camera. The feature works by dimming the pixels that sit in front of the lens, allowing it to see through the panel and absorb light. The phone display also supports 120Hz refresh rate, but surprising only pushes 1080p resolution.
It’s also the first to use the brand-new Snapdragon 888+ chip
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 888+ chipset, making it the first phone in the world to use this SoC. It comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The phone also packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, meaning a full charge can be done in under 15 minutes.
Imaging-wise, the Mi MIX 4 has a 108MP lens paired with 13MP ultra-wide lens and another 8MP 5x periscope telephoto sensor. The camera system can shoot up to 8K resolution and also supports HDR10+.
The Mi MIX 4 is priced from CNY4,999 and goes up to CNY6,299 for the 12GB + 256GB model. That’s about RM3,260 to RM4,108 when we convert it to local currency.
