When Xiaomi launched the Mi Max 2 earlier this year, the Mi Max still proved to be pretty current given that the former handset wasn’t much of an upgrade from the latter, except for one aspect – software. The first Mi Max was unfortunately stuck on Android Marshmallow for the longest time, until recently.
If you’re a phablet lover and happened to have the original Mi Max device, you’ll be happy to discover that Android 7.0 Nougat is finally on the roll out to the Mi Max, with MIUI version 8.5.1.
The software update comes with new app lock features, switches for common settings in search results, optimization of settings, plus tweaks to the messaging app and more efficient CPU allocation when it comes to the system.
The Mi Max came with a mammoth 6.44-inch display, which was retained with the Mi Max 2. The phone also came with a Snapdragon 652 processor, a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing selfie shooter. It packs a huge 4,850mAh for all the power required for its phablet form factor.
Android O is officially in the pipeline. Have you gotten your smartphone on Nougat yet?
