Chinese manufacturer has started rolling out media invites to an event set for next Tuesday. Although the invite only teases a huge “S”, we’re pretty certain that it is of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5s that has been rumored for a while now.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s will be a minor upgrade from the Mi 5 that was launched earlier this year. Based on previous rumors, the Mi 5s is expected to sport a 5.15-inch display at 1080p just like its predecessor, a slight bump up in processing power with a Snapdragon 821 chipset alongside 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Xiaomi might also include a higher end model of the Mi 5s with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint technology is rumored to make its appearance with the handset, that uses ultrasonic sound for fingerprint reading instead of the current image based ones.

On the camera side of things, the Mi 5s is said to feature a 16MP PDAF rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture, coupled with a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. The phone is also rumored to pack a 3,490mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Other rumored details include the implementation of 3D Touch technology as seen on Apple’s iPhone’s, in which if true, will make the display of the Mi 5s a pressure sensitive one.

Sounds like a pretty impressive phone so far, but definitely not worth the upgrade if you’re coming from the Mi 5 or other similarly spec-ed flagship phones alike. What do you think?
