Xiaomi may have missed the chance to introduce its new Mi flagship this year, but this didn’t stop someone (probably from Xiaomi itself) to show the world how the Mi 5 will look like in a completely leaked press render and even a hands on video on how it works, this is probably Xiaomi’s worst kept secret ever and I guess Lei Jun won’t really mind about this.
The Mi 5 now comes in four colors – Black, White, Gold and Pink, and takes on the Mi Note’s design language with its 2.5D glass front and back, an oval shaped home button that also acts as a fingerprint scanner is now present just below the screen like Samsung’s Galaxy phones, in other ways the phone also looks like a HTC One A9 clone. No hardware specs have been revealed as part of the leak, however previous rumors have suggested that the Mi 5 should come with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch QHD display, 16-megapixel main and 8-megapixel front camera, and a 3030mAh battery. In addition, a larger 5.7-inch Mi 5 Plus is also believed to be unveiled together.
We should expect Xiaomi to launch the Mi 5 before Chinese New Year assuming the way Chinese does things, and according to sources, the Mi 5 should be priced at RMB2500 (RM1300) and we hope Xiaomi will no longer release its flagship with a 16GB storage version.
