After two weeks of the Mi 4i’s debut in India, the Mi 4i will be making its way to Malaysia on 28 May and will start selling at an affordable price of RM749, slightly cheaper on what we’ve anticipated back then, the phone will go on sale over at Mi.com at 12PM and Xiaomi has ensured that supply will be sufficient for the phone this time as they already have a local warehouse here.

The Mi 4i is Xiaomi’s latest mid-range flagship and has the highest quality of hardware internals on board, which includes a custom made 2nd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.7GHz Octa-Core CPU mated to 2GB RAM, 16GB of eMMC storage, a 5-inch Full HD IPS Sunlight Display, 13-megapixel f/2.0 main camera and 5-megapixel f/1.8 front camera, Dual 4G LTE standby, WiFi 802.11ac and a 3120mAh battery.

Available in 6 different colors – Turquoise, Yellow, Pink, Blue, Grey and White, the Mi 4i sports a solid unibody construction similar to the Mi Note and has extremely slim screen bezels, which makes the phone very operable with one hand, the company has also emphasized that the Mi 4i comes packed with the highest quality hardware internals sourced from top suppliers.

Xiaomi’s Donovan Sung has also taken some time off to take apart a working Mi 4i in a separate session to show how dense the motherboard of the phone is to achieve such thin form factor and allowing a huge battery onboard, the lack of MicroSD has also been discussed in the session whereby the company feels that 16GB is sufficient for the majority users out there and flash storage delivers far superior performance than MicroSD cards, which ensures reliability throughout the product experience.
We’ve gotten ourselves a Mi 4i and will be performing the review and comparison with other smartphones really soon, so stay tuned for more folks.
