There’s a malware that infects Android devices that won’t go away even after you’ve done a factory reset on your device – scary, we know.
Multiple sources online have reported on the culprit – dubbed xHelper, it latches on to your smartphone either when you browse dodgy websites, or download dodgy apps. The worst part is that there is currently no way of removing said malware – a factory reset usually works, but not with this guy.

This malware was first discovered in March, but is currently affecting around 45,000 devices. Thankfully it isn’t the most damaging of viruses – it doesn’t jam up your system or steal private data; all it does is give you annoying pop up notifications prompting you to download apps from the Google Play Store, presumably apps developed by whoever created xHelper.
In order to prevent yourself from getting infected – stay clear of sketchy websites and apps. Only download apps from the Google Play Store, even then do exercise caution. Bonus points if you get yourself an antivirus app on your phone too for added security. Stay safe folks.
