Japanese multinational conglomerate Sony, might have left their fans a little irate with their latest addition to their Xperia family line-up of flagship smartphones but it has definitely not stopped them from wanting to spearhead the LCD TV department.

Sony Malaysia has unleashed their wide spectral line-up of LCD TV’s with one in particular being dubbed the “World’s Thinnest 4K LCD TV” surpassing the likes of LG and Samsung. The BRAVIA X9000C Series which comes in 55″ and 65″ Class models are set at approximately 4.9mm thin (at its thinnest part) is virtually frameless and looks as if it is floating if mounted to a wall!

We will speak more on the Full HD line-up later but for now, the 4K line-up. Sony has definitely done its homework with its latest offerings as their sets range from the minimum 43″ to the maximum 75″ which will definitely suit the majority if not all the 4K consumers’ needs. As an industry leader in 4K picture quality, the sets boast a new 4K Processor X1 for image processing and also Sony’s trademark TRILUMINOUS Display technology for an enhanced viewing experience

In response to the sea of so-called Smart TV’s in the market, Sony has come up with what is now known as Sony Android TV which allows streaming of videos, gaming sessions while also being coupled with some extras such as Google Cast and Voice Search via a remote equipped with a microphone and not forgetting the inclusion of Hi-Res Audio in some of the models.

The price of these sets range from RM3,999 – RM39,999depending on the class of the TV’s. Below is just a summary of the classes, series and size of the models.

  • Flagship: X9400C (75″) & X9000C (55″, 65″)
  • Mid-level: X8500C (55″, 65″)
  • Entry-level: X8300C (43″, 49″)

Now for the Full HD TV’s. The technology here is less cray cray heavy on the punches but it still packs quite a mean one. The latest BRAVIA W and R series has over 20 years of learning-based methods drawn from picture quality improvement algorithms, thus, its X-Reality PRO is able to enhance the visuals of an object to an almost-reality experience.

The models also come with the aforementioned features of Android TV, Google Cast and Voice Search on top of the Once-Flick Entertainment and Photo Sharing Plus extra. The R550C Series which comes with a 40″ and 48″ variant also has built-in wireless LAN.

Below are the models that will be available in Malaysian shores with a price range from RM1,699 – RM5,799 depending on the series. A summary of the series and size of the models are as follows:

  • W850C: 65″
  • W800C: 43″, 50″, 55″
  • W700C: 40″, 48″
