We’re one week shy until Microsoft releases the Anniversary Update for Windows 10. If you’re a Windows Insider participant however, you can gain access to the update right now.
The Anniversary Update, which is due on the 2nd of August, will bring with it improvements to various aspects of Windows 10. One of the sectors that will be improved with the update is stylus support, with Windows 10 now offering quick access to pen apps, a screenshot annotating app, a Cortana-integrated sticky note app, and the ability to use some pen apps above the lock screen.
Speaking of Cortana, the Anniversary Update will allow you to request Cortana to take notes or even ask her questions even when your device is locked. Furthermore, the Anniversary Update will introduce smartphone syncing using the Cortana apps on iOS, Android and Windows 10 Mobile, allowing you to see notifications, status updates, and alerts from your phone on your PC. The update will also bring HTML and JavaScript-based extension support to the Edge browser.
For those of you who are currently still on older Windows versions, here’s a reminder that the free upgrade period will be ending this Friday. After that, you’re going to have to pay for Windows 10.
