WhatsApp wants to increase limit of participants in video/audio calls

Using WhatsApp to call your family and friends is convenient, especially if it’s your main app to message them. However, group calls can be much harder once you exceed the four-person limit. Fortunately, WABetaInfo recently reported that the company will be expanding video and audio call limits in the near future.

Although there’s no exact number mentioned, we should be expecting 8, 10 or even 12 participants per video/audio calls. Any number higher than that will be too hard for WhatsApp users to converse smoothly. Naturally, all users will have to ensure that their app is updated to the latest version if they want to call more than 3 persons at once.

Apart from that, WhatsApp will be adding a subtle update to show that your calls are end-to-end encrypted. It will be reflected on your call header and will show whether you’re on an iOS or Android device.

WhatsApp hasn’t announced when these features will be available, but it should be rolling out pretty soon to both App Store and Play Store.
