WhatsApp cloud encryption feature available for iOS devices soon

We previously reported of WhatsApp’s plan to introduce end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for cloud saves – and we also mentioned that the feature would only be available for Android platforms; however, new developments have arrive claiming that iOS too will get much-anticipated security feature.

When users backup their chats on to the iCloud, they can choose to enable E2EE for their saved data via the settings menu.

Like on Android, users will need to use a password or a 64-digit encryption key. Of course, WhatsApp will not have access to any of these codes, meaning there will be no way of retrieving them should users forget.

An update is expected to gradually rollout soon to iOS devices across the globe, so keep an eye out for the patch.
