Headphone jack missing from latest Google Pixel 2 render

Now that most flagships from the more popular smartphone makers are out, we are only left with a couple more to go for this year, such as the iPhone 8, Galaxy Note 8 and the Huawei Mate 10. The Google Pixel 2 series falls under the same category as well, and it looks like the company will be omitting the headphone jack for the second iteration of the Pixel smartphone.

Based on a recent render of the Google Pixel 2 by My Smart Price and OnLeaks, the phone in the image above certainly matches the more commercial looking renders from other sources. The Pixel 2 seems to have retained the general design elements set in stone by Google, with the glass panel covering the top half of the rear panel shortened.

The huge takeaway from this render is that the Google Pixel 2 seems to have ditched the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is definitely a surprising change from the original Google Pixel, given that the company subtly dissed fellow giant corporation Apple for doing so with the iPhone 7 series. If this render appears to be true, we might be looking at more smartphones without headphone jacks moving forward.

The removal of the headphone jack on smartphone still tears the tech consumer world into two. What do you think?
