After months of leaks and anticipation, Samsung has finally unveiled its most important flagship of the year, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are now official with display sizes of 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch respectively while both produce the same 2960×1440 resolution, making it a 18.5:9 aspect ratio on the all new Infinity Display. When it comes to specs, the Galaxy S8 will be powered by a Samsung Exynos 8895 processor in the international market, while the US market gets the Snapdragon 835 silicon, otherwise they come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage with MicroSD expansion, and yes, it still has its headphone jack intact and is IP68 water and dust resistant.

While the Galaxy S8 and S8+ does come with some pretty impressive performance internals as usual, there are certain things that have not received upgrades, for instance the phone’s cameras are still an optical stabilized 12-megapixel f/1.7 main and 8-megapixel front camera, though the front camera now has autofocus, and instead of getting a bump in its battery size, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ comes with a rather small capacity battery at 3000mAh and 3500mAh respectively, however Samsung has claimed a 10% improvement in battery life despite of that, and we believe it could be the case with the new processor.

Otherwise, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ does feature a new AI assistant called Bixby, which makes interacting with the device easier. It also features an Iris Scanner that was featured back in the Note 7 (recycled component maybe?) for the best biometric security, as the company claims it. There’s also a feature called DeX, which technically turns your phone into a computer experience just like Microsoft’s Continuum feature with the help of a dock, which you can control it using a mouse and keyboard. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ also features the fastest wireless connectivity for now, which includes support for Cat 16 LTE and Bluetooth 5.0.

Samsung is making the Galaxy S8 and S8+ available from April 21 onwards in the US with a starting price of $750 (RM3,314), local availability shouldn’t take too long considering Samsung Malaysia has a good track record of making Malaysia one of the first few countries to sell its flagship smartphones.
