Dabbing into the smartphone industry will hardly be over even when the company gets sold to another, and that’s just what happened to several ex employees of Essential, as they have just founded a company called Osom and has teased its upcoming OV1 phone, which is meant to compete with flagship smartphones in the market.

As reported by Android Police, the Osom OV1 will sport a stainless steel and titanium chassis, a ceramic back, Corning Gorilla Victus and a Snapdragon 8 series chipset, the phone is expected to have razor-thin bezels and a 5.7-inch OLED screen, color options of white and matte black will be available while there are ‘some surprises to come’ in colors.

Osom is also expected to bring a flagship-level camera to its OV1, where it will come with a dual camera system that comprise a 48MP main and 12MP secondary camera, while the front camera will be a 16MP. Last but not least, the phone will come with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port that supports up to 60MB/s of transfer speeds, and the cable it comes with will have a switch to disable data pins to avoid data leakage when charging at a public outlet.

We reported earlier that Carl Pei’s Nothing is about to release a smartphone this month with the rights purchased from Essential, hence it won’t be surprising to see Osom wanting some of that spotlight and should have its OV1 smartphone out very soon, which could retail for less than $1000.
