Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 4 in the first part of its Keynote today, like how the previous rumors have shown, Watch Series 4 now comes with a larger display and introduces wrist sizes of 40mm and 44mm, Apple has also introduced redesigned UI and watch faces, while enhancing the complications on them
The chassis of Apple Watch Series 4 is now made with black ceramic, the digital crown has also been redesigned to offer better antenna performance for the watch’s built-in LTE radio, while the button now also serves as a Electrocardiogram, which works together with the optical heart rate sensor to detect any abnormal heart issues more accurately. The optical heart rate sensor now also detects high and low heart rate, and tells you if your heart rate is beating at an abnormal rate.
Apple has also included a accelerometer gyroscope that can detect falls and trips, while its not something that you would use everyday, it does help to call your emergency contacts if it detects that if accidents do really occur
In terms of performance, the Apple Watch Series 4 is now two times faster with the new Apple S4 SoC, the loudspeakers are louder than the previous model, it connects using the more efficient Bluetooth 5.0 standard and finally, it offers the same 18-hour all-day battery life like the Series 3.
Apple Watch Series 4 will be made available on September 21, it will be available in both GPS and Cellular models, which retails at $399 and $499 respectively. At the same time, Apple Watch Series 3 will be reduced to $279 for the GPS model.
