Technics EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40 to launch in Malaysia; priced from RM649

Panasonic-owned audio brand Technics has landed in Malaysia, revealing the EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40 — two new wireless earbuds.

Both the true wireless earbuds are almost similar in design and has a IPX4 rating. These earbuds are stemless, much like the Soul TWS earbuds we’ve reviewed awhile back.

While the AZ40 comes in four sizes of silicone earpieces (XS, S, M, L), the AZ60 comes in 7 sizes (XS1, XS2, S1, S2, M, L, XL).

With a higher price tag, the AZ60 also has better specifications — this includes eight microphones in total.

Each earbud has four microphones — a feedforward mic, feedback mic, talk mic and voice detection mic.

The AZ60 also comes with an acoustic chamber, harmoniser and 8mm drivers, in addition to supporting LDAC codec for hi-res audio quality.

Apart from featuring ANC, the AZ60 also has Natural Ambient Mode and Attention Mode.

The former is similar to Jabra’s HearThrough mode while the latter reduces surrounding noise but makes an exception for human voices.

The AZ60 doesn’t fall short in battery life, offering up to 7.5 hours on a single charge and up to 25 hours if we include the case.

These earbuds require 3.5 hours to fully charge both earbuds and case, and supports fast charging in which 15 minutes will get you up to 80 minutes of music playback.

On the other hand, the AZ40 has 6mm drivers but also sports an acoustic control chamber and harmoniser. Each earbuds has three mics — two talk mics that reduces surrounding noise and a voice detection mic.

While the AZ40 is slightly lighter than its sibling at 5g per earbud, it doesn’t support LDAC codec.

That being said, it can also offer up to 7.5 hours of playback time with the earbuds and up to 25 hours if we include the charging case.

It also comes with quick charging, offering up to 90 minutes of playback when charged for 15 minutes.

Both the AZ60 and AZ40 are only available in mid-October and will retail at RM1,049 and RM649 respectively.
