To address all the pain points, Symantec’s Backup Exec 2014 introduces a granular backup methodology, which backs up files, applications and VMs on servers into granular objects and store them into a variety of storage options such as tape, NAS storage or even in the cloud, Symantec claims that this granular backup method has improved 100% performance from its previous Exec Backup 2010 software, and you can even perform recovery back to different hardware, provided if the server is using the same CPU as its previous source.
