Spotify is finally catching up with Apple Music and YouTube Music, adding real-time lyrics to its app. While it’s not officially out for the public users yet, a beta user has confirmed said feature.

This is, however, not Spotify’s first time in introducing lyrics to its app. It previously teamed up with Musixmatch to provide in-app lyrics, but the partnership ended in 2016. It looks like both companies are now ready to start things up again.

If you’re someone who likes to sing-along but needs lyrics, then you’ll be hoping for this feature to arrive quicker. Spotify currently only offers limited lyrics of a song paired with some additional information via its Behind the Lyrics feature — a feature that is offered through the partnership with Genius.

In a statement given to Engadget, a Spotify spokesperson revealed that there’s no confirmation regarding the real-time lyrics feature. “Some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning.”
