The Samsung Galaxy A21s is Samsung’s latest entry into the midrange segment; priced at GBP179 (RM943) it goes up against a list of good smartphones that also cost below RM1,000.
Display
The Galaxy A21s comes with a sizeable 6.5-inch HD+ Infinity-O display; its competitors – think the likes of the vivo Y19, and realme 6 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s – all come with FHD+ displays. So despite Samsung’s reputation for fantastic displays, the Galaxy A21s loses out in this department.
Cameras
However, it redeems itself with an impressive-looking 48MP quad-camera setup – alongside the main lens are an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, you get a reliable 13MP shooter. As it’s a Samsung, you also get useful camera features too such as Live Focus, Live stickers, and more.
Hardware
Under the hood, there’s an Exynos 850 chipset which should be powerful enough for daily browsing and light multitasking. The phone comes with a measly 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which you can expand via a microSD card.
The Galaxy A21s also packs a massive 5,000mAh battery with support for up to 15W of fast charging. It ships with Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI layered on top. The phone features a facial recognition feature for unlocking your phone, or you can also opt to use the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner to do the job.
Availability
The Samsung Galaxy A21s will be available in Black, White, and Blue. Orders open from June 19 in the UK, however there is no word on its local availability and pricing yet. For what it lacks in the hardware department, it makes up for with its cameras and software.
