Samsung said that they would launch their new Exynos processor when the Galaxy S9 launches next year but recently, they have announced that the new Exynos 9810 is now official. This is the successor to the 8895 which is currently in the S8 and Note 8 phones.

There was no launch event or press releases so there is still not much information that has been released by the Korean company. Some of the things that we know are that it comes with a new Category 18 LTE modem which they unveiled earlier this year which will allow speeds up to 1.2Gbps. They also stated that it will come with eight cores, an upgraded Mali G71 clocked at 550MHz but no mention if it comes with an AI processor. Another known fact is that they have opted for a custom design route which means that they will not take advantage of any ARM resources like DynamIQ technology or any design that relates back to ARM.

With an early unveil of their new flagship processor, it would seem like the first step in developing their new flagship device will probably be underway as well. We will probably get more information on the features and capabilities of this new processor closer to the launch of next year’s flagship phone.
