Samsung to skip pass Note 6 and launch Galaxy Note 7

Rumors about Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet have come a long way now, since their initial emergence at the beginning of this year. Claims that the Galaxy Note 6 will launch early have recently been shot down. This time round, we’re hearing that Samsung will be skipping the Note 6. But not to worry, the Korean manufacturer will still be releasing the phablet, known as the Galaxy Note 7, according to ET News.

Based on the report by South Korean news outlet, the reason behind the change in name, is to bring it level with the Galaxy S7 series, enabling consumers to perceive them better, instead of having to constantly remind themselves that Samsung’s Note series is a number behind the S series. More sense and less confusion, if the report turns out to be true. The Galaxy Note 7 might also sport a dual-edge panel on both the front and back of the device, which might just explain the absence of an Edge+ handset in this year’s cycle.

But then again, releasing a sole dual-edge phablet to the consumer market might end up in disappointment. Hence, we could be expecting a Galaxy Note 7, and just maybe, a Galaxy Note 7 Edge. What do you think?
