Samsung Malaysia has officially launched the Galaxy Note 8 here in Malaysia. The Note 8 dubbed the redemption device after the huge mishap that was the Note 7 when it seems to cause some accidents to which Samsung had to recall all devices for the public’s safety. With the Note 8, Samsung has assured us that the device has gone through detailed test through different variables and conditions. The Note series is back and we can get our hands on it.

Overall the Note 8 is a gorgeous device that has a 6.3-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen which makes videos, pictures and games pop with vibrant colours. The phone is equipped with the Exynos 8895 chip which is Samsung’s own making to supply enough processing power to run the most demanding of applications smoothly. They have also upped the RAM from the S8 to include 6GB of RAM into this device which should be more than enough RAM to perform multitasking and 64GB of storage expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD card.

With a screen as huge as that, Samsung has enabled Multi Window, a feature that can pair up two apps which will launch them in a split screen view to that advantage of the Infinity Display screen.

The S Pen has also been upgraded from previous Note devices as it now has a finer tip, improved pressure sensitivity and features that allow for user expression through Live Message by illustrating animated texts or drawings across platforms that support animated GIFs. The Always On Display now not only displays notifications without waking the phone, but it will also support Screen Off memo which allows users to immediately start taking 100 pages of notes even when the phone is on sleep.

This also marks the first Galaxy device to adopt a dual-camera setup which features 12MP cameras on the back with OIS on the both the wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The Note 8 camera has a Live Focus feature when lets you control the depth of field by allowing you to adjust the bokeh effect in preview mode and even after you take the photo. Dual Capture mode will make both rear cameras take two pictures simultaneously, one close-up shot from the telephoto lens and one wide-angle shot that captures the entire background.

Adding on to the fun, Samsung is also offering a new Gear VR with the controller for RM499, which will fit with the phone and new GPS sports band, the enhanced water-resistant Gear Fit2 Pro. The Fit2 Pro features a built-in GPS tracker to accurately capture your rin or ride with activity tracking. Aside from its new swim and heart rate monitoring capabilities, the Super AMOLED curved 1.5-inch display and high-resolution colour touchscreen make updates and notifications easier to read.

The Galaxy Note 8 will be available in Malaysia from 21 September 2017 and will retail for RM3,999. It is available in three colours, Midnight Black, Orchid Gray and Maple Gold.
