Samsung launches budget Tizen powered Z2 in India

Samsung still isn’t booting out its Tizen operating system just yet, despite the fact that it may seem like the best option to close the chapter on the Korean manufacturer’s home made operating system. While this new Tizen powered handset will most probably be an India exclusive,  it’s pretty clear that Samsung still has faith in Tizen.

Introducing the Samsung Z2. That’s how it is named, without the Galaxy title in front for obvious reasons. The Z2 happens to be the predecessor for the Z1 and the Z3 launched in January and October respectively last year. Not very unusual after all, considering the fact that Samsung skipped the Galaxy Note 6 to a 7.

The Samsung Z2 is priced at a lowly Rs. 4,590 (RM275.92), a price point which isn’t at all uncommon and surprising in the land of India. For that price, the Z2 offers a 4-inch screen with WVGA resolution, an unnamed 1.5GHz clocked quad core processor with 1GB of RAM. The Z2 has only 8GB of internal storage, which fortunately, is expandable. On the camera side of things, the budget phone sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front facing shooter, which is probably non-functional under poor-lit. The main highlight of this handset is the fact that it’s the first ever 4G Tizen phone as claimed by Samsung.

The India exclusive Samsung Z2 comes in three color options – Gold, Black and Wine Red. Would you be complaining about a phone smacked with a price tag like this?
