Samsung’s latest Galaxy S20 FE edition has just been launched and it supposed packs improves requested by Samsung fans. This device will see better hardware in certain areas, breathing new life into the Galaxy S20 name.
The phone has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD display, so in terms of size, it sits between the vanilla Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ – on top of that, it pushes a refresh rate of 120Hz. Like the original S20, the display supports HDR10+ output, but only sports Gorilla Glass 3 instead of the beefier Gorilla Glass 6.
For imaging, there’s a downgrade in that you lose out on the 64MP lens – instead, you have a 12MP main shooter, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP camera. There’s 30x super resolution zoom, but you lose out 8K video recording. The selfie camera gets a bump up to 32MP and is capable of 4K video recording.
Under the hood is where the improvements are most impressive – you get a Snapdragon 865 chipset, which is a big deal, because this is what we’ll be getting in Malaysia too! Finally, eh Samsung? There’s 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which you can expand up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Powering the device is the same 4,500mAh battery, with fast wireless and wired charging capabilities. When it comes to features, the phone supports Bluetooth 5.0, has AKG-tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound, plus it ships with One UI 2.5 based on Android 10.
Unlike the original Galaxy S20, the FE edition comes in a smorgasbord of ‘Haze Finish’ colours – Cloud Red, Cloud Navy, Cloud Orange, Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, and Cloud White. The phone is priced at RM3,399, making it RM200 cheaper than the regular Galaxy S20.
