Introducing the fifth generation Galaxy Note, every other generation brings a new design language – first two were all plastic, the second duo introduced faux leather, now Samsung made a changed by eliminating plastic completely for a metal and glass follow-up the Galaxy S6. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is an evolution of the Note 4 with S6 exterior, which makes the bezels around the 5.7-inch screen are narrower and it makes the phablet has almost a millimetre thinner to ensure easier grip in the hand.

Besides that, the storage is running with a regular eMMC 5.0 storage, there will be only two variants available at the moment – 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage only without a microSD slot nor 128 GB internal storage.

The camera on the Samsung Galaxy note 5 is 16 MP with a f/1.9 aperture with optical image stabilization and auto real-time HDR to ensure good pictures and videos quality. Besides that, it’s capable of recording 2160p video or live stream 1080p to YouTube and you will receive a 5 MP front facing the camera with a f/1.9 aperture for selfies.

The company highlight the new Samsung Pay, which works over NFC or MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) and start to be available in the US in September. To secure every transaction, Samsung revises the fingerprint sensor in order to tighten the security.

One major turn down on the Galaxy Note 5 will be the battery because the company decided to drop the capacity to 3,000 mAh from 3,220 mAh. Samsung is counting on Fast Charging – both wired and wireless to offset this issue.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be available for pre-order today and officially available in the US in August with 4 different colors – Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium. The price for the device will be about USD 900 (approx. RM 3630).
