Robi, the build-it-yourself robot, is now available in Malaysia

Have you ever dreamt of having a robot of your own? Well, you might be interested to know that Robi, a build-it-yourself robot by DeAgostini, is now available for puchase in Malaysia. Robi is a fusion of sophisticated design and advanced Japanese technology that was designed to provide interactive bonding experiences for the entire family. Providing an in-depth understanding of how Robi works, an educational magazine along with instructions and model parts, can be collected over the course of 70 issues, or ordered online. Families and robotics enthusiasts can look forward to assembling Robi with their own hands.

Created by Professor Tomotaka Takahashi, Robi is a humanoid robot that is capable of communicating and interacting with humans in a wide variety of ways like talking, singing, dancing, and even controlling selected household appliances. The robot has an vocabulary of over 250 phrases, and the Malaysian version of Robi is specially designed to recognized English, Malay and Mandarin Chinese languages. Best of all, Robi is also capable of speaking some Manglish phrases.

“We are very happy to be bringing Robi to Malaysia. Ever since its launch, it has been very well received and has received a lot of positive feedback. Today, there are a total of 130,000 assembled Robi robots worldwide, making it the world’s best-selling multilingual humanoid robot,” says Hajime ‘Jimmy’ Murano, Chief Executive Officer of DeAgostini Japan.

For those interested in Robi, the robot will be available for purchase at retailers such as 7 Eleven, Borders, Cold Storage, Kinokuniya, MPH Bookstores, myNEWS.com, POPULAR, RadioShack, Times and more. The first issue of Robi is now available at a special rate of RM24.90 and will then retail at RM74.90 per issue excluding:

Issue 43 (CPU): RM137.0
Issue 62 (Physical sensor): RM99.0
Issue 63 (Physical sensor): RM99.0
Issue 67 (Speech recognition board): RM137.0
