The realme Book is realme’s first laptop; it’s now confirmed to debut on August 18 in China, pushing 2K resolution and sporting a 3:2 aspect ratio.

Most of the laptops in the market now comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio, but realme decided to go with 3:2 aspect ratio, something that Microsoft has been doing with its Surface laptop. The difference is instead of a wider screen, you get a taller screen which looks more squarish than your typical laptop.

Why a 3:2 laptop?

While watching movies or playing games are more ideal on a widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio), a 3:2 display is better for productivity as it gives you the extra height for your emails, documents, writing and so on. You’ll also experience less scrolling when it comes to websites browsing since information are always arranged in a top-down manner.

Looks like the realme Book is “inspired” by MacBook’s design

Based on previous images, we were expecting a MacBook-like design; now it’s confirmed to be true. The realme Book will come in an aluminium body, sporting narrow bezels and the realme branding at the bottom of the display. Its new teaser poster also confirmed that the laptop will support 100% sRGB and push 2160p resolution.

Other than that, we’re expecting an Intel 11th gen processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of PCIe storage. It should also charge via USB-C and support 65W fast charging. The official pricing hasn’t been revealed, but we’re expecting it to be around RM3,000 if and when it launches in Malaysia.
