Qualcomm has just launched their new Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 compute platform for entry-level portable devices. 

The company claims that the chip offers 10 percent faster system performance compared to most competing platforms, while also being power-efficient. The SD 7c Gen 2 allows for up to 19 hours of battery life too.

Also important is the chip’s support for LTE connectivity on top of WiFi – the goal for the SD 7c Gen 2 is to utilized in affordable laptops for study and work, where one-the-go usage is highly expected. 

Enabling all this is Qualcomm’s fifth-generation AI Engine that helps in improving device security, more accurate voice recognition, and more. 

On top of that, the chip supports Windows 10 Hypervisor meaning Windows laptops using the chip will are Microsoft Secured-Core PCs.

Rounding off the chip’s offerings are support for virtual surround sound, echo cancellation with noise suppression, 4K HDR media consumption, and more, for entertainment and video conferencing purposes. 

Devices sporting the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 are expected to arrive this mid-June.
