Xiaomi Malaysia is set to launch the POCO M5 and M5s one day before the iPhone 14’s launch, they are feature packed value for money mid-range phones that will definitely interest budget phone hunters.
The POCO M5 features a 6.58-inch FHD+ IPS display that refreshes at 90Hz, it is powered by a more powerful Mediatek Helios G99 processor and paired with either 4GB+64GB or 6GB+128GB storage configurations, the phone comes with a triple camera system that comprise a 50MP main, 2MP macro and 2MP depth lens, selfies are serviced by a 5MP camera, and your day is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, it also has NFC functionality so that you can reload your Touch ‘n Go card and is one of the few phones to come with Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
Sporting a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a 1100nits peak brightness and 60Hz refresh rate, the POCO M5s comes in either 4GB or 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage, its RAM can be expanded virtually up to an additional 8GB RAM while storage can be expanded with a MicroSD card.
What makes the POCO M5s more appealing than its competition is the inclusion of dual speakers, a 5000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging and an IP53 dust and splash resistant body, not to mention its quad camera system that comprise of a 64MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP+2MP macro and depth lens that makes it way more useful than some other phones, the primary lens will also take 4K videos at 30 fps, which makes it one of the most affordable device to do that, a 13MP sensor takes care of selfies which supports 1080p video recording at 30 fps.
In other features, the POCO M5s has a headphone jack that’s Hi-Res audio certified and has FM radio support if you still want that on a smartphone, it will ship with MIUI 13 for POCO based on Android 12.
While the POCO M5 and M5s have a starting price of RM649 and RM699 respectively, the phones will have a limited time discount when it goes on sale this September 7th, the POCO M5 will retail at RM599 for the 4GB+64GB model and RM699 for the 6GB+128GB model, while the POCO M5s will retail at RM659 for the 4GB+64GB model and RM849 for the 6GB+128GB model.
