Sony has confirmed the new PlayStation 5 event date set for June 11 – the unveiling of the company’s latest game console was supposed to take place on June 4; but in light of the George Floyd protests, the event was called off to show solidarity to the cause.

A new date

Sony has since taken to their blog post to announce the new date where they’ll be streaming the event live on YouTube and Twitch, at 9pm British Summer Time, or 4am June 12 in Malaysia.

What else to expect

Alongside the actual design and specs of the device itself, we’ll likely be treated to a first look into the list of games that’ll be launching for the console. But as usual, these early next-gen console games serve more as tech demos rather than fleshed-out titles – remember the PlayStation 4’s tech demo, The Dark Sorcerer? The game never saw the light of day; taking its place instead was Knack and underwhelming action-platformer game.

Regardless, we’re still excited to see what Sony has up their sleeves; especially with all that power and storage speeds they’ve been touting of late. Visit their YouTube or Twitch channels to catch the livestream.
