Malaysia’s most popular hatchback has just gotten a new facelift, as Perodua has officially unveiled the new Myvi this evening through a 10-minute virtual launch video, it features a series of iterative upgrades over its 4-year old predecessor and Perodua has already received 4,303 bookings in the past 9 days.

The most notable change of the new Myvi is on the front, as it features a wider grille, redesigned headlights and two vertical daytime running LEDs, which the latter being a first on a Perodua car. As for the rear, you get a new bumper with two vertical blocks that matches the front DRL, though we think one would possibly fit it with brake lights if they could afford to.

The new Myvi is offered in 1.5-litre and 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i engines across four variants, the AV (Advance Variant), H and X gets the 1.5-litre engine, while the G variant gets the 1.3-litre engine, however what’s new here is that all variants will be paired with a Dual Mode CVT transmission that aims to enhance transmission efficiency and provide smoother acceleration at low speeds.

Perodua claims that the new gearbox will have a 5% improvement on fuel consumption and 20% improved acceleration compared to the old 4-speed gearbox.

Autonomous safety features has been one of the strong selling points of the last Myvi, and the new Myvi continues to have  Level 2 autonomous driving and adaptive cruise control, which the company calls it the Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) system.

PSDA is available on all variants (customers can choose to opt out on the G variant), which includes Advance Safety Assist (ASA), Driving Assist, Parking Assist and Head Lamp Assist, while you get things such as pre-collision warning, braking, front departure alert and pedal misoperation control, lane departure warning and lane departure prevention as standard, only the AV variant comes with addition Lane Keep Control, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic alert.

In addition, auto high beam is available as standard except the G variant without ASA, the AV variant gets a reverse camera and a built-in dash cam.
