OPPO INNO DAY 2021: first ever retractable camera, smart glasses, what else?

OPPO’s annual technology convention, INNO DAY, is kicking off on 14 December and the company has already teased us with some of the technologies they will be introducing. OPPO will be unveiling its self-developed retractable rear camera, neural processing unit (NPU), and the long-anticipated smart glasses.

Apparently the agenda behind the retractable camera technology is because “most pop-ups are annoying”.

The markings seen on the camera module show that the sensor is 1/1.56-inches and a 50mm equivalent lens with f/2.4 aperture. The camera will extend itself automatically once you open the ‘Camera’ app just like how a pop-up camera would work. The brief video also teases the durability and its ability to remain waterproof while extended.

Other than that, we’ll also be learning more about OPPO’s new neural processing unit (NPU) — MariSilicon X and smart glasses.

During the event, you can even create your own avatar that will appear on the screen and walk around just like how you would visit a museum in real life.

The event is happening next week as mentioned before on 14 December 4pm, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest developments as they come. If you wish to join OPPO INNO DAY 2021 yourself, visit the official page here.
