OnePlus One phone now official

Though we haven’t been posting about the OnePlus One phone, it has been teased as one of the most amazing smartphones out there with beastly specifications. And now, the phone is now official, which will start retailing from $299 in the US.

The company claims that the phone “was designed to be beautiful, timeless and comfortable in the hand”. The phone has a magnesium chassis which measures at only 8.9mm thick and weighs 162g. Most interestingly, you’ll be able to switch the back cover just like a Moto X, materials include bamboo, wood, kevlar, and denim.

In terms of specs, It has a 5.5-inch 1080 Full HD display with LTPD and TOL (Touch on Lens) technology protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz quad-core SoC, 3GB RAM, 4G LTE support, storage options up to 64GB with no expansion, WiFi AC dual-band, Bluetooth 4.1, 13MP Sony sensor main camera, and powered by a 3100mAh battery. The OnePlus One runs on a special CynaogenMod 11S version based on Android KitKat.

OnePlus will be offering the first 100 customers that can smash their existing phones in exchange for a One handset for a dirt $1 through their ‘SMASH THE PAST’ campaign. The phone will unfortunately be available for purchase through invitations ONLY, and users being invited to buy the phone will be able to invite their friends to buy.

In our opinion, the only amazing thing that we can see in pictures is typically a Chinese made smartphone with powerful specs sheet selling at a dirt cheap price at RM1000, we doubt if the company is able to keep up its reputation in terms of brand and after sales support – Fingers Crossed.
