The OnePlus Nord was quite the popular device when it launched last year – its impressive specs and design, offered at an affordable price, made it a bang-for-buck option.
This time, OnePlus attempts to improve on the phone’s value proposition by making the Nord even cheaper, while retaining the phone’s main features. Aptly named the OnePlus Nord CE 5G (Core Edition), the phone is priced from RM1,399, a whole RM400 cheaper than the original version.
Display
The design of the phone Nord CE 5G hasn’t changed bar the single selfie lens that replaces the regular Nord’s double lens module. The phone comes in two flavours – Blue Void, and Charcoal Ink.
For the display, you now get a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED panel that still boasts a 90Hz refresh rate. There’s still support for HDR10+ for more vivid colours too.
Camera
For imaging, you get a beefier 64MP main lens as opposed to the 48MP camera on the original Nord. However, you get one les lens now in this triple-camera module – accompanying the main shooter is an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, you a single 16MP camera.
Specs and battery
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 750G 5G chipset which is a slight downgrade of the original Nord’s Snapdragon 765G. In terms of memory and storage, there are two variants available – 8GB+128GB, and 12GB+256GB.
Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery along with 30W of fast charging. OnePlus claims that you can power the phone from 0% to 70% in just half an hour.
