With the launch of the OnePlus 5T, many users of the 5 were quite upset that in just a really short time span, the company already released a new phone that somewhat makes the previous phone obsolete. However, it looks like they are still trying to support users of the OnePlus 5 by bringing some features in the new phone back to the previous flagship phone.
One of the mentioned features is the Face Unlock as a leaked build of Android Oreo for OnePlus 5 shows that they might be bringing this feature to their previous flagship device. This feature has received many prases as some users even commented that it is much faster than the iPhone X FaceID but OnePlus has commented it is still not as good as Apple’s facial recognition. This is something that OnePlus is working on as they are improving the algorithm such as detecting if the light emitted from the subject is coming from another smartphone.
OnePlus 5 owners will know if this feature is actually coming to the phone as the official beta of Android Oreo is coming to the 5 next week. Seeing as the feature actually works in the build, developers can easily extract that module of the OS and implement it into a custom ROM to which you can just flash on your phone and experience the feature.
