It looks like NVIDIA is really hating SLI a lot, we’re kidding of course, the upcoming mainstream NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 has once again shown up in online pictures, and one thing that you will immediately notice is the lack of a SLI bridge finger, which was still featured back on the Maxwell based GTX 960, its kind of surprising that NVIDIA has decided to leave out SLI on its new mainstream candidate considering it rivals against AMD’s Radeon RX480 GPU, despite claiming faster speeds than the latter and as fast as a GeForce GTX 980.
The GeForce GTX 1060 is probably the most capable mainstream GPU ever made by NVIDIA, as the Pascal based GP106 chip has 6GB or 8GB of GDDR5 memory, 1280 CUDA cores, a 1506MHz base clock and 1708MHz boost clock, and a 192-bit memory interface while rated at 120W TDP via a single 6-pin power connector. In a leaked benchmark screenshot by WCCFtech, the GTX 1060 has an impressive score on the 3DMark Fire Strike test, particularly the Fire Strike Ultra test, which the GPU scores 3014 points and it is merely about 1000 points away from the flagship GTX 1080 Founders Edition. Last but not the least, the GTX 1060 will have the same set of ports as the GTX 1080, it comprises of three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, and a DVI port.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA hasn’t made any official announcements yet but sources have speculated the GTX 1060 to be unveiled at the end of July with a $250 price tag.
