MINI Malaysia has introduced the new MINIs in conjunction with the New Malaysia trend that has been going on since the elections.
The New MINI 3 Door, MINI 5 Door and the New MINI John Cooper Works were introduced with the latest engines and transmissions from the BMW Group which complies with the latest Euro 6c standards that increase the driving experience and reduces fuel consumption. It also brings along a signature design like the new MINI Logo Projection, LED Headlamps and Union Jack Tail lamps with Day Time running lights.
The new cars have been made to be 13% lighter thanks to the user of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic which reduces the weight by 8KG which radically improves fuel consumption. The Coasting experience which was only available on the GREEN mode is now available on the MID mode with The New MINI which puts the engine into an idle state when the driver’s foot is off the pedal. In addition to that, with the MSA Connected, it gives more fuel-saving functions with the intelligent auto start-stop system which is available on the John Cooper Works variant.
The New MINI 3 Door
The 3 door MINI comes with 17-inch cosmos spoke in Black where the special black paint coat gives the wheels a more dynamic look. In the cabin, there is a 6.5-inch display operated by the MINI controller or touchscreen. It also comes with MINI Connected which allows users to integrate their apps into the car, while the MINI Connected App allows users to easily check their Fuel Consumption, Fuel Range and Last Know Location.
As for those of you that have issues parking a car, MINI has added a Rear-View Camera to the car which will even give you guidelines to steer in the right direction. Aesthetics wise, it has the MINI Yours Illuminated Cockpit which offers 12 colours to suit the driver’s mood. The New MINI 3 Doors will comes in seven colours of Chili Red, Pepper White, Solaris Orange, White Silver, Starlight Blue, Thunder Gray and British Racing Green with a Black Roof.
The New MINI 5 Door
Similar to the 3 Door, the 5 Door also comes with a 17-inch rim but comes with the John Cooper Works Track Spoke in Black, which is developed for optimum weight support, fitted with run-flat tyres. Other than that, it comes with the same 6.5-inch infotainment system as well as all the features mentioned in the 3 Door.
The New MINI 5 Dorr comes in six colours of Chili Red, Pepper White, Emerald Gray, White Silver, Starlight Blue and British Racing Green with a Black Roof.
The New MINI John Cooper Works
This variant of the MINI sits in a class of its own with features that are exclusive to this variant. It comes with a MINI Logo Projection, LED Headlights and Taillights, an 18-inch John Cooper Works Cup Spoke 2-Tone and John Cooper Works Bonnet Stripes. There is even the option of a Panoramic Sunroof which lets more light into the car to create a spacious feel.
Powering the car is a 2.0-litre 4-Cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo Engine which generates 231hp and 320Nm of torque. This gives the car its acceleration of 0 to 100km/h in 6.1 seconds which is complemented by an 8-Speed Steptronic Sports Automatic Transmission. The gears can also be shifted via the paddles located on the steering wheels. The John Cooper Works model will offer you the Go-Kart feel thanks to its Adaptive Suspensions which is a standard in MINIs.
On the interior, it comes with a bigger 8.8-inch touch screen with navigation and Natural Language Recognition. It can understand a wide range of abbreviations, giving you an easy control over the car just by using your voice. For those of you that depend on your mobile phone for your day to day activities, the John Cooper Works MINI has a wireless charger placed at the centre armrest.
The New MINI John Cooper will come in four colours of Rebel Green, Midnight Black and Pepper White with Red Roof. All the mentioned cars will be available at all authorised MINI dealerships nationwide from now. The MINI Cooper 3 Door retails for RM226,888, the MINI Cooper 5 Door retails for RM236,888 and the MINI John Cooper Works retails for RM283,888.
